Cardiothoracic surgeons convened during the 27th Annual Meeting of EACTS for a session on Advanced Hemodynamic Management in High Risk Surgery, 8 October 2013, at 16:15. Matthias Loebe, MD, PhD of Houston Methodist (Houston, TX, USA and Simon Maltais MD, PhD of Vanderbilt University Medical Center (Nashville, TN, USA) moderated the discussion. 

Highlights of the event included Live-in-a-Box hTEE case video presentations from Simon Maltais MD, PhD & William Costello MD of Vanderbilt University Medical Center on hTEE use on an LVAD Patient, Scott Silvestry MD and his team at Barnes Jewish Hospital on Proactive Management of the RV, and Hitoshi Hirose MD, PhD & Harrison Pitcher MD  of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital on the hTEE-Guided ECMO Weaning protocol to manage myocardial recovery.
